The Foster Grandparent program matches income eligible senior adults aged 55 and older with children and youth. The seniors serve as role models and mentors for children in childcare centers, elementary schools and after-school programs.
Foster Grandparents work one-on-one with children offering specialized assistance to help youngsters in reaching their potential. Foster Grandparents serve 20 hours per week and receive a stipend.
The program is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, SeniorCorps Division, and is sponsored in Guilford County by Senior Resources of Guilford.
