Volunteer Position Details:
Handy Helper

Purpose:
To help senior homeowners remain independent by assisting them with minor home maintenance and/or yard work.

Responsibilities:

•	Assess home project as assigned by Senior Resources.
•	Provide information regarding needed repairs, supplies, and labor.
•	Commit to completion of the project after consultation with the Volunteer Coordinator.
•	Protect confidentiality of all clients.
•	Report volunteer hours following the completion of the project.
•	Provide necessary tools and equipment to complete the project.

Qualifications:

•	Have a genuine concern for older adult citizens.
•	Be a responsible and honest individual.
•	Have general knowledge of home maintenance costs and materials.
•	Have general knowledge and skills of plumbing and/or electrical repair, and/or the ability to perform general carpentry and/or painting maintenance.
•	Be 18 years of age or older. If less than 18, volunteer must be supervised by an adult.

Training:
Attend volunteer orientation and sign application.

Time & Place:
Location and hours vary, but will be in Guilford County.

Length of Commitment:
Completion of project.
