Introduction Caregiving
can be an all consuming activity. Not only may the caregiver for an elderly
family member find respite during the day through adult day services but the
elderly family member may also make new friends in an enriching environment.
Some of the programs available in Group Respite - a social program that offers up
to a 6-hour break as many as a four days a week for those who are providing
care for a family member who is disabled or requires supervision. The disabled family member receives unique
opportunities for a variety of activities with friends in a secure and
supportive setting. Personal care is
not provided. Adult Day Care – a structured program where participants spend
from one to five days per week, on a scheduled basis, at the center. Services are planned to support an adult’s
personal independence and promote social, physical and emotional wellbeing. Adult Day Health – in addition to the benefits of day care, adult day health
includes personal care, health surveillance, assessment, and R.N. supervised
nursing services. Many
things may influence the appropriate service for you and your loved ones: the
specific level of disability, the program’s services, and the individual
program features such as location, setting, cost, ease of access, and operating
hours. The personal likes and dislikes
of your family member, interests and history may contribute to your choice.
Each center and each program has unique qualities and features. SeniorLine: 336-884-6981 in |
